DENVER -- Charges have been filed against a woman accused of hitting a boy on a bicycle with her car, then driving away.
Prosecutors said Brittany Gonzales, 21, was driving drunk when she hit a 11-year-old boy on a bicycle at Irving Street and Dakota Avenue on Saturday.
Gonzales is accused of stopping her car to pick up a hubcap, then driving away without reporting the crash or helping the boy, prosecutors said.
Police said they found Gonzales' car and arrested her later a short time later.
Gonzales is charged with vehicular assault, child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident and DUI, prosecutors said.
She was released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
The boy was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was still hospitalized on Wednesday when the charges were filed.
